Today I got up with the sunrise to see the best views of Wanaka one can get within an hours walk of the town, and I was not disappointed at all. This place is honestly so beautiful.

Todays walk lead from the shoreline of Lake Wanaka tht sits opposite Pembroke Park to the left towards Aspiring National Park. I was so keen this morning I forgot to have breakfast, so by the time I got to Waterfall Creek and played around with my camera there for a little while, I decided carrying on was probably not a clever plan as I was highly underprepared... But I did get to see Ruby Island and The Wanaka Tree that is apparently one of the most photographed trees in the world:

And had to take an obligatory photo os the tree myself:

I also met a wonderful man with his dog who has lived in Wanaka for 13 years and is a photographer himself. We talked for a little while and I get some insider secrets for where to walk and what to photograph and what time of day is best etc... So tomorrow is now planned out for a longer walk than today, which although was short inductance took me about 3.5 hours as I was so keen on the photo front (I barely slept last night as I was excited to get out this morning).

A couple of other favourites from todays walk:
