Yesterday I raced the sunrise. Today I chased the sunset.

The thing about being an aspiring photographer, or a photographer in any case, is that you have to go all out and push yourself everyday to be the best you can be. It's easy to sit back to sit back and take a photo of a pretty scene and say you're a photographer, but at the end of the day we're in modern times now where every Tom, Dick and Harry has a camera of some sort. To stand our from the crowd, to get peopel's attention and to be happy with your own progression - as an artist you have to accept something you create can always be built on and improved - you have to step up to the plate and give 110%.

Now if that means getting up at 5am to walk up a mountain to get the perfect shot, or to stand in the ocean until you loose the feeling in your legs, or to walk down dark streets you don't know getting utterly lost... that is what you must do to out-do the competition. Always keep 100% of your eye on the ball, which sometimes means paying attention to what's on the opposite side of the sunset, because that is not where anyone else will be looking and sometimes that is where the magic happens.

It's all a load of calculated guess work weather-wise, with a bit of technical photography knowledge thrown in. A bit of motivation, inspiration and passion. Without these essential things you can't be great at what you do. And that applies to any field of work/profession you're interested in.

Living life without passion isn't really living, and I'm lucky, thankful and humbled to say at 22 I can't be more happy with where I am, where I've been and where I'm going.
